Questions from parents

Everything you might want to know before your child starts playing. Can't find your answer? We're happy to help.

Getting started

What ages is Games for Tots for?
Our games are designed for toddlers and preschoolers, roughly ages 2 to 6. Easy words suit little ones who are just discovering letters, and Hard words give early readers a fun challenge. Every child is different, so the free demo is the best way to see if it's a good fit.
Does my child need to know how to read?
Not at all. Every word comes with a picture, the word is shown in big letters, and the next blank to fill gently blinks. Young children start by matching letter shapes on the keyboard, and the connection to reading grows naturally from there.
What do I need to play?
A computer with a keyboard and an up-to-date browser such as Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox. There's nothing to download or install. On phones and tablets the on-screen keyboard appears, but a real keyboard is much easier for little fingers.
Can we try it before buying?
Yes. The free demo lets your child play Little Typer with Normal words right away, with no account and no payment details needed.
How do the levels work?
Easy has 2 and 3 letter words like CAT, Normal has 4 letter words like BEAR, and Hard has 5 to 7 letter words like RAINBOW. Members can switch levels at any time, even in the middle of a game.
What happens when my child presses the wrong key?
Nothing bad. Wrong letters don't appear in the word. The blanks give a little wiggle and a soft sound, and your child simply tries again. There are no timers, no lives, and no game over.

Safety and privacy

Are there ads or in-app purchases?
Never. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, and no links that lead children away from the game. Your membership is the only thing we sell.
Can my child talk to strangers?
No. Games for Tots has no chat, no messages, no multiplayer, and no way for children to share anything. It's a quiet space just for your family.
What information do you collect?
From parents: your name, email address, and plan details, plus a nickname and animal avatar for each child you add. From play: which words each child finished, how long they took, which letters they missed, and how long they played, so you can see their progress. We never ask children for personal information and we never sell data. Our privacy policy has the details.
Does my child need their own account?
No. Accounts are for parents and guardians aged 18 or older. You add a simple profile for each child (just a nickname and an animal), and the game asks who's playing.
How do I delete our information?
You can delete your account at any time from My account. This removes your account, children's profiles, membership history, and game progress. You can also remove a single child's profile and progress there. You can also email us at privacy@gamesfortots.com.

Plans and billing

How much does it cost?
$5 a month, $50 a year paid in advance (you save $10), or $200 once for lifetime access. Every plan includes every game and every level. See pricing for details.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. You can cancel a monthly or yearly membership from My account in a couple of clicks. You won't be charged again, and you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Do you offer refunds?
If Games for Tots isn't right for your family, contact us within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund. Our refund policy explains how it works.
What does the lifetime plan include?
Everything a monthly or yearly member gets, including every game we add in the future, for as long as Games for Tots runs, for a single payment. There are no renewals.
Can I change plans?
Yes. Choose a different plan on the pricing page at any time, and it replaces your current one.
Can brothers and sisters share a membership?
Yes. One membership covers your whole household. Add a profile for each child (up to 6), and each one gets their own progress, letters to practice, and play time.

Playing

Is there sound, and can I turn it off?
There are soft clicks for correct letters, a gentle bonk for wrong ones, and a little tune when a word is finished. The speaker button in the corner of the game turns sound on and off.
Will my child see the same words over and over?
Words your child has already finished come up much less often, and the same word never appears twice in a row, so there's always something new to type.
Does it work offline?
You'll need an internet connection to load the games and save progress.
